OPT Tax rate in New york city

Hi. I am an Indian student on OPT about to start work in a non profit organisation. I wanted to know how much is the OPT tax in New York? My OPT ends on July 19,2006. My income will be around 30-35k during this year.

Unclear:

There is no "special" OPT tax rate for New York state.

You pay the same tax rate as any other resident of New York state, regardless of your citizenship status.

Exactly how much your tax will be depends on a myriad of variables which I will not go into here. Based on the income cited and assuming that you are single, your state tax liability will be between $1,600 to $1,900.

Thank you. Sorry for not clarifying I meant as a student on OPT how much would my tax liability translate into, but despite my poor wording I did get the required response, it helps clarify the position. Thanks again.
