Offer of compromise,Tax lein

We have a tax lein against us.We are considering doing a offer of compromise.
Once we do that will the tax lein be taken off? Also my husband and his brother are named in a trust. It's not for much,Everything is supposed to be sold and split 3 ways and 1/3 of it going to a church. Will I have to put that in an offer of compromise?Since the The person who put him and bro. on trust hasn't died yet? Is It best to get a lawyer for the offer or is it something we can do on our own?

I suggest you contact an enrolled agent (EA), who is a tax professional who is licensed by the IRS to represent clients before the IRS.

AN EA is a certified tax specialist specially trained to prepare Offers in Compromise. Though not cheap, they will cost much less than a lawyer and probably do a better job.

Generally, the IRS writes off tax debts that are over 15 years old. However, they are not bound by that standard by law.

Let me reiterate: You need to get professional help! See my earlier post,
