J1 visa holder- Taxes

Hi,

Iam a J1 visa holder who came to USA in march 2005. Since then iam here in usa.

I am a citizen of India. so iam actually eligible for the tax treaty exemption benefits for the first two years of my say here in USA.

My programme of stay makes me stay here for more than two years of time which means i will have to pay the acccumulated taxes at one time when i enter into the third year.
hence to avoid all this burden at once, iwant to pay the taxes now for the current year 2006. of course my university has already deducted my taxes , social secrity taxes, fica for this year in my salaries, since i dint sign the foreign national form for the treaty.
i just want to file my taxe returns.

For the year i just filled the 1040 NR EZ, and i dint put any number in the column that asks me about the exemptions. i just added the amounts on W-2 form plus the amounts on 1042-S. Then i put the total as my total earnings for the year 2005. iwas single in 2005.

Is that the right way of doing? if not what i should do?

Another difficuluty in understanding the filing state for the current year 2006 is the addition of my wife with me. she came here to USA on 26th of september. she dint have any kind of earnings till december 31st of 2006. she has social security number.
so when i claim her as an unemployed dependent on me----can i claim any benefits on my spouse as dependent. if so how much.
what forms can i fill.
Could you please kindly clarify my question.

I wanted to give you all the details. i hope u will try to help me.

Thanking you
VBR
