I am a single mother and I live rent free with my boyfriend. I have not worked since she was born. Last year I was given $9757.52 from a broker for columbia management my aunt was holding for me. The gain (loss) was $1758.59. I 'm not sure if I have to report also I recieve $400.00 a month in child support. Do you have any suggestions, and if I need to file is there a easy I can do it at home > Thank you

You need to file a Form 1040 with a Schedule D to report the $1,758.59 capital gain.

However, NO taxes will be due.

Recommend you get a professional to prepare the return. It is a relatively easy return, and you should pay no more than $100 for the fee (that is what I would charge).
