File CA State taxes for receiving an early distribution?

I just filed my federal taxes online with forms 1040A, 5329 etc due to an early distribution of $2,000+ on a Roth IRA that was deposited into my account in CA in February 2007. I had invested in this annuity in NY from my after tax dollars while I was a resident of NY until November 2006. I moved to CA in late November. I took the early distribution because I had to use it for education expenses. Normally, I do not have to file a CA return for 2007 since my income is less than the yearly minimum to file. My question is do I have to file a CA state return for the year 2007 just for the fact that I took an early distribution or is the federal return I filed enough? Tx!

The distribution from your IRA counts as income in 2007, so the queston is whether your total income for 2007 (including this distribution) exceeds the minimum filing threshhold for your filing status. See:
