If you file as a resident alien under First Year Choice, you will pay an additional $2,524 in self-employment taxes on the money earned under Form 1099-MISC.
For this reason, you should file as a non-resident alien, which means filing Form 1040-NR with Schedule C. You also need to file Form 8843 one last time for 2005.
Since you are an Indian citizen, you get to claim $3,200 for one personal exemption and $5,000 for the standard deduction. |
