J1 visa, researsch scholar tax exemption ?

Hi all, i am an Indian Post-doc, currently in J1 visa as a research scholar. I have completed my 1st year in US and i want to file my tax. Though i have a tax treaty for exempt from taxes for two years, i haven't signed the treaty. My fear is, if you enjoy the tax exempt for two years and extended your stay for more than 2 years, the US gov., will wipe you out by taking all the taxes for the tax exempt period, by the end of the 3rd year!!!

Could somebody explain to me, what happens if i wish to stay in this country after two years with the tax exemption?

thanks in advance.

Hi All, I figured out myself the answer for the previous one. Indian Research Scholar with J1 visa is exempted from tax for 2 years. If one stays more than 2 years, the Tax exemption becomes invalid, that is one has to pay all the taxes that he/she owes to the federal govt. Hope it helps somebody like me.
