double taxation India Usa

hello,

i am citizen Of india. I was based in US from 2004 to end of 2007. I moved back to India January 2008. I work for company based in US and still on their pay roll.So my country of professional source of income is US but am a resident of india.i plan to continue living in inida. Will double taxation treaty help me or will i have to pay taxes in India too.Right now only my federal and not state taxes are being deducted from my salary in US. i have no other sourse of income in india.

MukatA Tax Expert Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: CA Posts: 4,647	If you are not a permanent resident of the U.S., then ask your employer to stop deducting the taxes. Now you are a foreign alien and working in a foreign country.
