Foreign Income queries

Hi
I have been in US since March 2007 with my employer one of the Indian IT companies
In Jan 07, Feb 07 i received Indian salary from my employer - taxes were deducted as well. In april I recieved a bonus again in india and taxes were dedcuted.

From March 07 onwards I have been drawing my salary in US and my W2 contains the US income. I did not have any Indian salary for that period other than the bonus mentioned above. I understand for Tax purposes I am a resident having spent more than 183 days

here are my questions
1) I understand I should be declaring my Indian income and claiming tax credit for that. But does that income need to be of Jan and Feb when I was not a resident of US, i.e should I declare my entire Indian income for year 2007 or do I need to declare my income recieved only for the period while I was living in US

2) What are the supporting documents do I have to attach along with the 1116.
Is the supporting documents like pay stubs of foreign income is required while filing the return?

3) If I am applying for TIN number(using W7) for my wife while filing federal return,
then I cannot file my state return until I get my wife's TIN.

Sorry for this huge post - replies would be extremely appreciated
thanks

1. You must declare your foreign income even when you were not in the U.S.
2. No supporting document is required. You may need it if IRS questions it.
3. yes, you will apply State return only after you get ITIN. If you feel that you will miss the filing due date, then apply for an extension.

Your post is huge, but it is clear and well stated.
