Go to the IRS website and print out a blank Schedule C for reporting income for self-employed. It will give you a list of items to deduct. Be sure to include:
1. Rent - if you have to pay for your booth. That is deductible.
2. Mileage for your auto that you use to get to your shop and back, or to go get supplies, etc. and interest that you pay on a car loan. Be sure to keep a mileage log of every time you use your vehicle for work related activities.
3. Cell phone, if you use it for your business or a percentage of.(Other Expenses)
4. Any suppplies that you purchased to use in your business.
5. Any license fees
6. Any continuing education courses that you may take.(Other Expenses)
7. Seminars that you may have attended. (Travel and Other Expenses)
8. Bank fees (Other Expenses)
9. Cost of business cards, or advertising.
These are just some of the expenses that a lot of times, people overlook when they are figuring their deductions.
Hope this helps to get you started.
