1) Dual Status? 2) W-9 or W-8BEN?

Dear Tax expert:

My info:
F-1 Visa: Jan 2002 - Sept 2006
OPT: March 2006 - Sept 2006
H-1B Visa: Oct 2006 - Present

Questions:
1) Will I be considered a "dual status" for tax returns in FY2006?
2) Should I be filling W-9 or W-8BEN for banking purposes (received a form from Citibank requesting to do so).

Thank you.

Your are dual-status for 2006, unless you are married, in which case you can opt to be considered a resident alien.

If dual-status, use W-8BEN. If resident alien, use W-9.
