F-1 to H-1

F-1 to H-1

hie..i am a student in masters in physical therapy in california, my program is of a year and so i have been granted F-1visa for a year!
in next sept i would be on a OPT status. i plan to clear my license exams before my program ends. i would like to know that once i clear my license and get a job, how long does it take to get a H-1 visa staus? can i visit india once i have a job letter, without an H-1 status?
