Recycler Question

I have just about every virus/spyware package ever made installed on my computer, more or less, including the latest Norton Professional package, Pest Patrol, PC Rescue, and LavaSoft (full package).

Norton recognizes the following as an Adware threat (CommonName):

C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1321446xxx-xxxxxxxxxx-500\Dc1\vtquqxws.exe (I inserted the x's here for my own security reasons)

Also

C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1321446xxx-xxxxxxxxxx-500/DC1/swxquqtv.dll

I can't find either 'vtquqxws' or 'swxquqtv.dll on my system or through a Google search on the net.. One or the other (swx... I think I remember) was in my start-up files but Pest Patrol removed it from the start-up files but Norton still finds the two items.

Any idea what to do next (should I be concerned in that the items are not now in my start-up files)?

You need Spybot.

DSO Exploit: Taken from the chat room

Jan 1, 2005
Eliminate this by doing the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode in the top bar.
2 Select 'settings' in the left column at the lower end.
3 Select 'ignore product' in the left column.
4 Select 'security' tab.
5 Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.

6. I have highlighted ALL entries and got rid of them in one stroke.
7. Need then to go back to ‘tracking’ the last tab in the upper bar and review it, or just “unselect all’ if there are any entries there one wants to keep.

8. Close program
9. Open Spybot and run a scan. It should come clean.

You will find that DSO Exploit has been eliminated and if your computer does not harbour any other spyware you will see a congratulatory message.

This works with any and every currently captured adware, tracking or Trojans.
For any new threats Spybot update is necessary.
I cleaned both my computers in 10 minutes each and both came alive.

NOTE: The red italics are my additions to the original message. Italics do not show up here.
I have gotten rid of Norton and Symantec; too clumsy.
