Excel: Deleted cell content but link is still there

When I delete text from a cell where the text was a hyperlink, it does go away, but when I go to type new text in the cell, the new text is hyperlinked as the former text was.

How can I stop this from happening?

Correction:

I see now that the new text is NOT hyperlinked...but it is blue and underlined like hyperlinks are.

Is this avoidable?

I was afraid of that. Funny how we (or maybe it's just me

) try to reduce clicks wherever possible.

Seems like time and click-wise, your method or just clicking on the underline button and the black color button are about equal.
