| It sounds a lot like his, he did say that he had a "clicking" and "locking" feeling in it. No, he elected not to have surgery for a number of reasons. One, it was not permanent the Dr. advised it would have to be redone in 10-14 years, my husband was 31 when it happened. Two, he is a large man and it would be impossible for me to care for him if he was laid up. There is no way into our home without going up several steps. Then the third reason, he was traumatized by doctors at age 15 with a serious ankle injury and has not cared ofr doctors since.
It has been 3 years since the incident, and like the doctor said the meniscus deteriorated and no he no longer has one. His pain it mostly gone, but it does come back during long periods of standing, and walking. Which, weightloss for him would probably curb a lot of the weight bearing pain he does have.
Honestly, I think in this instance, surgery is the way to go. It could completely resolve the pain for several years, although there are no guarantees. |
