knee popping

i was playing basketball and my knee got hit from the side which of course made me slam it on the ground...it swelled up and i couldn't straighten it all the way but my coach said to not worry about it.....the swelling lasted for about two weeks it wasn't bad but it was bigger than my other knee on the outside....i continued through basketball and i'm now in track it doesn't hurt to bad but i got used to it....but about a week ago it started popping every time i bend and straighten it and some times when i run...it hurts but my coaches say that there isn't anything wrong with it...does anyone know what is wrong with my knee do i need to go have an x-ray????? help me!!!!!

Coming from a family with knee issues! I would say go see a sports Doctor! If your going to be playing sports you should have it checked out just to be on the safe side! It could be a torn meniscus. Hope it gets better!
