Trouble Understanding God

I had a baby two months ago, before my baby was born I had a ultrasound and the doctor told me that something was going to be wrong with my babies toes. So from that moment on I started praying, up until the day he was born. When he was born his toes were disfigured - on one foot he had five toes but two were stuck together and on the other foot he had three toes and two were stuck together. My question is--I prayed and he said "ask and you shall receive" I asked but did not receive. So now I feel like I'm not good enough, because my prayers didnt get answered? Why do things happen to innocent children (period) not just mine-- all children. Please help me grasp this and yes I do love my child regardless. My faith has been lose and I don't want to live like that. I've had faith in God my whole life now I just feel lost!

There is no reason to lose faith, there is not any reason to believe God did not answer your prayers. See what many people forget. That sometimes the answer God has is an answer we may not like to hear, but whatever answer he does give us. The answer is better for our will, for everybodies will.

I understand somewhat your pain, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. Why did that happened? Why did we suffer through so much pain. Now though we have a beautiful son. If that did not happen, we would never have met and been blessed with what we have now.

Focus on the nourishing the spirit within your little baby. Feed your baby soul and continue to have faith and strength that God will continue to bless you.

Remember that it is what is on the inside that completly matters, remember to give your baby everything that you would give any other baby. You need to be strong for your baby and focus on your baby and nothing else. Even if there is lots more to the story, God would not give you anything you can not handle.

Take care of yourself and your baby. God bless. Your amazinely blessed.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I understand and I get it. Its hard but I will try to get back on the right path.

You have your baby, God's gift to you. You are the chosen parent for your child, also a gift from Him. You say you prayed to receive but did not. It is not that you are not good enough but that God had another plan for your baby and for you. You see, every person that is born makes a commitment to come into this world with a task and set of circumstances -- literally everyone. You are not alone. Your child was born with the condition that exists as he will be a great teacher unto others including yourself. You do not realize it just yet but in time you will understand. You must never question God on why things happen to "innocent children". Be assured that there are so many others in the world with far greater problems and conditions that we do not understand. But each child's condition serves a purpose for the greater good and glory of God. Keep your Faith Strong! This is part of what I am talking about. You are being tested to see if your faith truly is strong in God despite your circumstances with your son. If your faith is not strong, how can you ever hope to overcome the concern and worry that apparently prevails? We were not given the spirit of Fear.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." -- 2 TIMOTHY 1:7 (KJV)

I am receiving a special message for you about your baby. He is to become a great leader when he grows up and the following Scripture is being pointed to in context.

"I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living." -- PSALM 116:9 (KJV)

So, Jesus indeed has a great plan for your son that if he had not been born that way it might not have given God the glory He so rightfully deserves. Again, you may not realize what I am saying here but it is being given as a Divine message so that you can put to rest your questioning of why children are born the way they are. God has His plans for these children and in time they will show the world what they can do. May God Bless you and your son as many GREAT things lie ahead for the two of you!

I said to myself the same things you mentioned in the initial post. I wondered how God would allow my dad to beat me senseless, how my mom would sell us out for a meth addict and his two kids and their one on the way. Why is everything so hard all the time? I used to believe that if I didn't get exactly what I asked or exactly when I wanted it, that God had abandoned me or was never really there.

God is unsee able in His perfection and purpose. For us to understand the current working and their relation to the future is impossible. We all see the blessings of the past and realize now how wonderful they are. This may be the best blessing in disguise or unrealized. I'll send a prayer out for your child tonight. God bless, thepurpose

The pain and anguish you experience is felt by so many, even myself, but all our answers can be found in the bible, for instance, a few that come to mind - Why God put us here in the first place (Isa 45:18, Gen 1:26-28.) Why there is so much suffering (1 John 5:19, Eccl 9:11) Why God allows suffering (2 Pet 3:9).

Unfortunately none of us are exempt from the imperfections of life, but we can improve our lives immensely, A) in a SPIRITUAL sense - through praying which helps us get closer to our creator (James 4:8) and by living by His standards set out in the bible, B) in a PRACTICAL sense (2 Tim 3:16, Prov 15:1). It requires effort on our part but oh what a reward! He promises us among other things, perfection in paradise conditions on earth! (Psa 37:29) This means your precious son would have the 10 toes he missed out on in this system of things, and he'd get to enjoy them forever!

When hardships get you down, find a quiet moment, gently stroke your baby's face and whisper I'm so lucky, and don't stop talking to God (Phil 4:6). Maybe try praying for strength and patience.
