How do I get rid of a spirit that is haunting my children?

No offense but a pastor or a priest will do no good with getting spirits out of your home. That's like going to an auto mechanic for heart surgery. You wouldn't do that, you would go to an expert with experience in heart surgery. So I would suggest going to a medium or Wiccan Priest/tess or if you like to save some $$$ then I suggest learning how to get rid of spirits yourself.

Look up a house cleansing spell, like a wiccan blessing spell. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago, though it wasn't as bad. My son, who was about two, told me he kept seeing a little girl named sally. He said she sat on the stairs when he laid in bed (his room was right by the stairs so he could see the stairs) and she would sing and he called her queen sally. Then one night I was watching tv late and night and I heard a little whimpering sound. I turned off the tv to listen, all the windows and everything were closed. Then I heard this sad little girls voice crying "mommy....mommy! Mommy!" over and over. After that I heard her crying a lot, tv and lights would turn on and off. Whole nine yards. So, we did a wiccan cleansing spell. You basically say a cleansing chant, whatever you want. I think I said something to the effect of "this house is white, leave this house, go to the beyond where you belong. Go to the light little girl, your mommy is there, go to your mommy there." I mean whatever you want to say just to the effect of whatever it is has to leave. I was not very foreceful because it was just a little girl ghostie. Then you take white bar soap (like ivory) and draw CLOCKWISE

Spirals on the windows. Throw salt in the corners, and burn sage, all while chanting whatever it is you want to say. A priest won't do anything. Like the last person said...you wouldn't go to a mechanic for heart surgery.

Negative or 'bad spirits' need an incentive to move on. They are often just annoying entities that get stuck on the earthly plane and like to frighten children in particular because it gives them a thrill. They were probably annoying people when they were alive as well!

I think that there are a number of things that you can do - and the priest is one strategy.

I would also clean the house from top to bottom and leave all the doors and windows open. Once the house is clean 'smudge' every room and corner with a sage stick. Smudge yourselves as well. Then I would get a small silver or brass bell, and ring it in each corner, or anywhere where you thin it's dark or 'feels funny'. While you are doing this, ask the spirit to leave and not come back, ask it to move to the next level, tell it that it has done it's work here and can move on. Imagine the house filled with brilliant white light when you're finished.

I agree with 503person. Perform a cleansing ritual or something close to it. I suggest lighting four unscented white candles (votive or otherwise) Place the four candles in a medium sized circle. Sit within it breathe slowly, holding for three seconds on both the inhale and exhale. This readies your mind to begin working magic. Then, look in your heart for the right words to say in the ritual, as the greatest magic comes from within, not from a published book or some internet site. Once you have said whatever words the Mother Goddess has laid on your heart, then blow out the candles and put them away. You could also light protective incense, to keep the magic working for several days.

I agree with all of these. There's no specific way to do a cleansing, no long list of spiffy little things to say and little magicky things to do. Just do what is in your heart and make it true. Light white candles, burn insense or sage, do it ten times if you need to. Just keep a pure and open heart
