Statute of limtation on speeding tickets
Hi,

I received a speeding ticket in BC in 2001. ICBC has now forwarded my file to a collection agency. I was wondering how long after receiving this ticket the statue of limitations applies? I don't want to mess up my credit but I also think that 8 years is a long time to wait to pursue this ticket.

Thanks for any help.

From what I can see it never expires - I'm surprised a warrant wasn't issued for your arrest (for non payment), although it appears that could come at any time.

There is no statue of limitation on criminal activity once a ticket is issued.

The ticket does not expire. Just pay it.

Generally speaking, there is no statute of limitations on speeding tickets. When you do not appear or pay the ticket, the court enters it as a guilty plea and they can collect the fine many years later.

Can across this site after finding ICBC forwarded my file to a collection agency for tickets in 1991.

If the ticket is already at a collection agency does that mean my credit is already effected.

Yes, it's "probably" been reported to the credit burea.

Only way to know is to pull your credit report.
