    Statue of limitations ONTARIO
    20 years ago I was on Social Assistance and today I received a collection notice for overpayment of $1300.00 and they have put it in for collection. Can they do this for something I can't remember?

    Which arm of the government was giving you this money. There is a 2 year limit but that is for a person to demand debt repayment from another party. The government may have other regs about repaying and over payment. Ask them to verify in writing what they claim and how they can prove this over payment.
