I live in MD and I was driving someone elses car... I got a parking ticket on the car and didnt know it (either someone took it off my car or it blew away). It happened 2 1/2 years ago and today the owner of the car is threating to sue me. The original ticket was 37 dollars and now he claims the fine is 500 and some dollars , because of outstanding past due and late fees. This is the first time i have heard of the issue . What is my legal responsiblilty and can he win if he takes me to court. I was willing to pay the original fine. But I am not wanting to pay the late fees because i was un aware of the ticket untill today. Am I liable to pay the full 500 or am i liable at all. Or does he have to prove that I was driving his car that day? Any help would be appreciated thank you very much.
