How do I file a landlord complaint with the Better Business Bureau?
I am in court now, I am suing my landlord for my security deposit, only gave one-third of it, I want to report and place them with the Better Business Bureau. How do I inform potential tenants of this particular landlord?

    Hi, vena221!

To contact the Better Business Bureau, you could call, write them a letter, or stop in their office. They're probably listed in the phone book.

If you win in court and the Better Business Bureau contacts him because there have been complaints about him, I would think that your landlord might be more mindful in the future about what he may have been doing that wasn't legal, don't you?

    Thanks!

Is the Better Business Bureau on line in your area? In my area they have a user friendly website.

My local BBB does NOT get involved in landlord/tenant disputes and will not accept a filing. (Please don't keep posting the same question.)

As far as "getting the word" out - I'd be very careful about what you say because it's your word against the landlord's and if you financially harm the landlord and the landlord decides to pursue you, you could find yourself back in Court as the Defendant.

You also may want to wait till you win in court, if you fail, the may wait to see on this to see if your claims are valid or not

I have a huge problem. Ever since hurricane sandy, my life has been a huge mess. I am currently living in Seagate. The storm destroyed many houses, but fortunately my home was not severely damaged. We recently got the lights back on, but there is still no HEAT or HOT WATER. My landlord owns four other houses in this private community. He claimed money from FEMA and has more than enough money to buy a new boiler, but he chooses not to. My family and I are suffering. We've tried to make a complaint to 311 but we get no response. Please help. We have young children living here. Enough is enough.
