Closed Checking Account

What actions can I take against a person who wrote me a check on a closed account and refuse to pay me? If I take her to court, can I also make her pay court fees?

Yes, but before you try court, I would give the person one more chance. Tell them if they don't make good on the check by x date, you will have them prosecuted for passing a bad check. Deliberately closing an account to avod payment is illegal. They could be subject to criminal prosecution.

I have tried three times to get her to pay me, when she see me out she turns the other way, so I told her Friday night I was giving her to Monday to pay me, but she still refuse, I hate to file charges, but what other choice do I have if she refuse to pay. Thanks for your response.

Like many people who are short on money she is embarrased and rather then discuss an arrangement she avoids you. However, if faced with jail or even just an arrest, she might come around. That's why I would warn her that you would take that step. She may not have considered what she did was criminal.
