| Car received as a gift - legally can I keep it?
I was with my Boyfriend from Feb 08 until July 08, in this short time my boyfriend bought me a car with cash withdrawn from his credit card. I picked the car, the car was put into my name on the log book, I am solely insured for the car, which I paid a small percentage of but my boyfriend paid the rest of the yearly premium. The car was bought in April and in May he proposed to me and we got engaged. During this time I fell pregnant as this is what my boyfriend kept on about, he also moved some fixtures and fittings out of my house, disposed of them and replaced them with his fixtures and fittings i.e. a fitted cooker, a fitted wardrobe, a dishwasher and a set of curtains, all of which were second hand. In July my Boyfriend became threatening and abusive and I had to terminate the relationship before he actually properly moved into my property. During the stress of the harassment I have received I lost my baby. Because the items listed above were fitted and replacements of my fitted items which he disposed of I have returned everything but these items to him including the engagement ring which he bought me as these items are fitted in my property. The car was a gift and I now use this to travel to and from work as well as collect and dropy my young daughter off for childcare. My Ex is now taking me to the small claims court for the car and the fitted items, where do I stand, please can somebody help me as I am getting constantly harrassed by my Ex and he is now getting his ex girlfriend to harrass me and make up lies backing up his statement in court. This is really getting me down and I just wanted some piece of mind - PLEASE ANYBODY? Thank you.
