Starting a business

I have been building/fixing computers and computer networks for several years now. I love to do it, so I never really charged anything up until a couple months ago. I decided that I would like to start my own business doing this. I had a couple magnetic signs made up and threw 'em on my car. In the last two months, I've probably made around $3-400 doing this. I would like to make my business legal though, but I'm not sure where to even begin. Also, although I've been working on computers for almost 10 years, I'm not certified in anything. So I guess these are my questions:

1. Do I have to be certified to start a business?
2. Do I have to be certified to be insured for it?
3. Which should I get, a DBA, or an LLC?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

No, No and that depends. I would consult a CPA and attorney to help you decide. $300 to $400 a month would be considered a hobby. To decide what kind of company you need to set up, you need to know what your liability is. If you have liability for a system going down then you may want to do a SubCorp S. A CPA and Attorney can help determine this.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply! I do still consider it more of a hobby right now, but I'd like for this to grow a lot.

Thanks for the advice!!
