You should also check out your states official web page they will list out the requirement regarding permits and licensing that are required to run a daycare in that state.

Your county Social Service has, as part of their work, the function of licensing a day care. So call them and ask for the requirements to be licensed. You have to have them inspect your home and also the Fire Department will make an inspection with recommendations on what you need to buy. Also, talk to a good tax person about what you can legally deduct as expenses, if you are doing this out of your home. Also check into your state's nutrition program for daycare providers. I do not know what your state calls the program, here it is called, "Heartland Nutrition." Whatever the name is in your state, it provides education and financial reimbursement for daycare providers.

Good luck. I did this for a number of years and it was alot of work but alot of fun too.

Yes, each state will have its own rules and laws and regulations ( and you will find out the difference of each) but there are rules and laws on how you fix the food, here day care centers have to have thier kitchens inspected by the health depart. There are rules about number of staff per child, requirement fo education of certain staff, type of bunks or mats, type of play equipment allowed and so on.

shygrneyzs agrees: that si right - there are levels of licensure - from basic family to center. Get informed and weigh all your options.
