Usually only certain kinds of businesses are eligible for grants. For example, non-profits or others that benefit the community at large or a segment of it in a certain way might be a possibility for the type of business that could qualify for grants.

However, just about any business can apply for loans from a number of different sources.

What type of business is it about which you're inquiring, please?

One company I worked for got a grant for a building after signing they would provide 300 jobs for at least 2 years.

And there are grants at times for business in some specific depressed inner city areas.

Also there may be private grants, I know some minority groups fund small business in minority areas at times.
