This is going to sound really crazy but sometimes you can get an infection from the bacteria in your mouth when biting nails. MY mother once gave me an old home remedy to pull infection out of the skin on your finger and it really did work. You take a piece of white bread, has to be white bread and some soak it in milk. wrap it around your finger and put it in a baggie. I know that sounds incredibly wierd but it worked. Infections under the nail can be very hard to withdraw without anitbiotic and this did the trick for me. Of course you should consult your dr if it doesn't get better within a few days and it continues to have problems. Give it a try.
