    What is it?
Hello, so I'll cut straight to the point. Every time my boyfriend and I "mess around" I have a burning sensation and it also burns to urinate. What do you think it could possibly be? Its been going on for about two months and I have been on medication but it's not helping.

Which medication? Did a doctor prescribe it or is it OTC? First question should have been, have you seen a doctor about this?

It sounds a bit like cystitis, but I'm not a doctor so I don't know. Go see your doctor?

I did see the doctor and she put me on medication called sulfameth/trimethoprim. I told her it could possibly be a UTI and she thinks that's what it may be but I'm not so sure it is.

By "mess around" do you mean sex?

Sulfameth is a very good antibiotic. You should make sure you are very well lubricated and be sure to urinate before and after intercourse.

What tests did she do? Did she take a urine sample, blood sample? Anything?

UTI's are easy to diagnose if the doctor tests for one. She shouldn't have to guess that it's a UTI if it is. So I don't know why she thinks it is, and doesn't know for sure.

The test she did was a urine sample
