    New Computer/old Computer
I just bought a new computer. What is the best way to transfer my picture and music from my old computer to my new computer? I started putting my music onto cds but the name of the song and artist do not show.

Sounds like you burned them with windows media player -- instead transfer them as data -- select about 700 k`s of music / copy to cd drive/ save as data. That's the best I can explain it not knowing for sure what old operating system is.-- Savage

Best advice I can give you is to verify that your old computer has a USB port on it. If it does, go to your local electronics store and buy a memory stick. You can get a pretty decent size one (1GB or so) for about $50 and you'll be glad you did.

If you get that thing, just move as much as you can to the memory stick, then transfer it on the new computer (it has USB for sure), and keep doing it until it's all moved. Other than that, using the CD as the other person said will work too... the nice this about the memory stick is that it's a really handy device to have for you in the future.

    Good Luck :D

If you have a router, just connect both PCs to one another and share the folders your files are located in. You can then transfer the files over to the new computer.

If you need to turn on file and printer sharing in Windows XP, right-click on a folder you wish to share, choose Properties, go to the Sharing tab and click on Share this folder. Choose the options you want for the shared folder.
