    Homemade Veggie Dip Recipes
    Hi, All!

Hey! Do you have any? Please do share.

Vegetable dips are expensive! I love vegetables and putting them into dips! But, the cost of the dip can be a real downer!

I have no clue as to how to even begin making a dip!

    Thanks!

Does ranch dip from a packet mixed into a tub of sour cream count? :) I usually go for that or hummus.

It's a Mediterranean dip made from garbanzo beans. Or at least, it usually is. I've also tried it made from edamame and from white beans but those ones weren't very tasty. There's all sorts of flavors. There's just plain hummus. And some brands make spicy hummus, or garlic hummus, my favorite had red peppers added to it. You can make it from scratch. I've been told it's easy but never actually tried to. It's easier for me to just buy a tub and it's generally not too expensive, depending on where you shop. It's healthier than my ranch dip too.

So, what's unhealthy about a ranch dip, please?

Also, is hummus something that I could just go to the grocery store to purchase?

    Thanks!

I don't know about all ranch dips. The one I like the best comes in a little envelope thingy and you mix it into sour cream. So it ends up being high in fat and sodium. There probably are healthier ranches. But of course I like the unhealthy kind.

Yeah, you can find hummus in most grocery stores. I buy mine at trader joe's, they have a pretty wide selection of flavors. I usually only see a couple flavors if I go someplace like albertson's.

Get some low fat salad dressings like "creamy cucumber", or even "Italian".

Yes, hummus is good, and it's sold at the larger grocery stores. It's lower in fat, and high in protein.

I see hummus pictured in many places in the form of dressings and dips of various kinds.

    Hummus - Google Search

But, I don't recall ever seeing it for sale by iteself. Of course though, I haven't ever really looked for it.

What section of a grocery store might it possibly be in, please?

    Thanks!

We have Kroger here, they sell it. How about an international market in your area?

You should find it in a major store, in with the special cheeses, and dips.

Sometimes it ends up near the salsa in the refrigerated section. I've seen it in with the cheeses. In one of the mostly middle eastern stores near my house there's an entire case just for hummus.

Buy a can of garbanzo beans (in the bean section)

Purée the beans without the juice
Add some crushed garlic to your liking
    Salt and pepper
    And a good olive oil

    Blend all together.

It's really good with Greek black olives and warm pita or just on toast.

    Another easy home made dip...
1 can of minced clams with juice
    1 8 oz. cream cheese
    Crushed garlic

Blend all together, it's really easy and good.:)

I'm a lover of veggies and dip myself. My favorite is the Hidden Valley Ranch dip mix packet(sold by dressings and condiments) in fat free sour cream(sold in dairy case). I use fat free cause otherwise I feel really guilty about eating veggies and it not being healthy.

Spinach leaves cooked, water drained out.
Celery and carrots and onions and garlic, chopped or minced.
    Sour cream,
Mix everything together... and you get a yummy dip.

A can of refried beans mixed with minced onion and ranch dressing mixed in, cream cheese softened and mixed with italian seasoning, pesto-in a food processor put a couple handfulls offresh basil or parsley, a couple fresh cloves of garlic and a littile olive oil while its processing to make it a paste, you can also put sunlower seeds or pine nuts in it
