    Best contraceptive pill?
    Hi

I'm wanting to go onto the birth control pill after using condoms as my only form of contraception for a couple of years. I was originally prescribed Dianette in my mid teens for acne and it helped that but caused me sevear depression and some weight gain, I've since tried Cerazette and Microgynon and I think one other and they all caused weight gain, acne, depression or killed my libido.

I'm now 20, I am considering retrying Dianette as it had the least side effects aside from depression but I think going through puberty could have exacerbated that? Also my acne has returned and anti biotics aren't helping, Dianette did give me nice skin.

I've never tried Yasmin, Cilest, Marvelon, Loestrin, Ovranette, Femodene or any of the other contraceptive pills.

I'm looking for a birth control pill which won't cause weight gain (or very little), will help my skin and won't decrease my libido... am I asking for the impossible?

What's the best you've ever tried?

Your best bet is to discuss this with your doctor. There are reasons doctors prescribe only kind of pill to one girl and another pill to a different girl. Your health history plays a role as well.

My Docter shrugged when I asked for advice on this and said "What do you want to try?"... don't think they care much either way. I think it's been left up to me to do the research and pick one.

Was this a GP or an OB/GYN? Either way, it's time to find a new doctor.

The best pill I have ever tried is cilest, I tried a few before that and they just caused me problems but this one has been brilliant for 2 years now.

Hi, I was looking into getting on the pill for many reasons.
