How to make him stop swearing
My husband swears a lot and I want him to stop. He also wants to stop, but he's been doing for a such long time it comes out naturally. How do I make him stop?

If he really wants to stop, charge him a fine every time he swears. Once he sees how much he does it maybe it will sink in.

He's a man, just tell him to suck it up and think before he speaks. He will also need to create a list of replacement words to say when he's frustrated, etc. to use instead of the swear words.

Tell him that you will not respond to him if he swears. Then stick to it.

He'll get the idea soon enough, and although it make take some time for him to get in the habit of not swearing, he will learn without too much effort.

Wanted to mention too, that somehow my husband peppers his sentences with me with plenty of swear words, but he can talk with a lot more respect and no swear words, to his boss, his mother, the family doctor.

Habit, or lack of respect, probably on my husband's part, it is a bit of both.

You can work along with him to help him stop his swearing but it's really on him. He has to learn to catch hisself before the bad words leave his mouth. It like the phrase "think before you speak", he needs to live by that for a while. Bad habits are hard to break but depending on his commitment to change with time this bad habit can be broken.

Also, I like Emland post about charging him per swear word maybe that can help speed up the process.

My BF works with a man who is swears constantly and so my BF comes home and does the same without even being aware of it.

He wants to curb it as well.I like the fine idea. You might want to post a little reminder that I used for my kids when they were teens.

*Profanity is the effort of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly*.

Put it on the fridge and it will be a constant reminder.
