Hi, my water heating pipes makes banging noise when heat is coming in a hot water boiler heating system. My water pressure gauge keep coming down where I have to keep adding water back to the boiler. Is there something wrong with the expansion tank that is pressuring air to the pipes?...

Recently I noticed the house water pressure was higher then usual. I checked and it was 85 psi instead of the usual 50-60. I called a plumber to replace the 20 year old pressure regulator, the pressure now looked good but and then the banging started. This never happened in the previous 20 years....

I have heard about water hammer but that seems to be when the water is turned off. My problem happens when the water is turned on. When water is turned on in the bathroom on the other side of the house, pipes start banging loudly but stop after a short while even if the water continues to run.
