Might talk to a local college art dept.

My roommate in college did this for a semester, art major. Textiles class? Anyway, they might have someone with hands on exp willing to give you some answers.

    Hi,
This is something that can't be explained here, in full; unless you have a very specific question about part of it.
There are many, many books written about weaving with looms, and you can find them using any search engine.
There are also Groups at Yahoo, in crafts, weaving, and others.
Hopefully, someone here has done weaving with a loom, and can ask you specifically what you are looking for.
I do wish you the best.

I took a Fiber Arts class about 12 years ago in college. I learned how to weave on a loom and LOVED it. Unfortunately looms are expensive and difficult to come by. If you have the interest and opportunity, don't pass it up. Its worth the effort to learn. ~F

Although the original question is now quite old, it would be helpful to know what kind of loom it is concerning, since there are many different kinds of looms.

Depending on the type of loom, building one doesn't have to cost that much if you have the skills to build it yourself.
