    Possible Court Summons.
    Hello All!

I would like to first start by saying that I am aware of my debt and to whom I owe. I have a copy of all three credit reports as of January and my intention is to clear these up.. one at a time.

I just received a phone call at my office and on my cell from someone saying he was Agent Mitchell of the Constable's office and saying he had papers from the District Court and to call him back. This can only be related to debt as I am a law abiding citizen.

My question is, do I have to sign these papers? Can he come to my place of employment and embarrass me in front of my employer? Can he continue to call my job?

    Thanks in advance! :)

    Hello d:

You don't have to sign. He can go anywere to find you. He's only going to deliver a packet of papers. If he does more, call his supervisor.

I don't think he's asking you to sign anything - he is attempting to make arrangements to serve you without the need to come into your workplace. I frequently do this when I serve papers - not unusual and it IS an attempt to make things less upsetting to the person being served. Sometimes you can't find people at home and so you resort to the workplace.

He probably will ask you to meet with him.

And, yes, if he called you on your cell phone he is allowed to do so because he has no idea you're picking it up at your office. That's not a call to your workplace.

And, yes, I would call him back before he shows up - if you don't want him to show up.
