    Dialup connection noise
    I have dialup connection and after I'm connected I can't get rid of the hissing noise you hear from modem.

    Try this. With your computer on. Disconnect the power to it.
    Wait one minute, turn on the power and reboot your computer.

    I have trying to forget everything I ever knew about Dial Up Internet Connections

    The screech of the sign on is like chalk on a blackboard -- slow downloads

    I would not recommend unplugging power -- Normal shutdown is recommended

    I would suggest muting your computer sound --or unplug the power to speakers

    Luv DSL most of the time really worth the money

    Your modem init string probably contains an ATM2 or M3 It needs to be ATM1 or M0.

    AT is attention. M is a speaker command. Somewhere between AT there should be an M with a number after it. Change it to a 1 or 0.
