Pituitary Gland and EDF What do I need to ask my GP
In 1987 I began to experience loss of motivation, energy, and became anxious. To cut a long story short the GP who examined me over a number of months finally through various other departments had me taking three types of anti depressants, pain killers and also a Psychotic drug Parstelin .Treating me for anxiety and depression.(who wouldn't be anxious suffering as I was !)
Parstelin is extremely dangerous and it can fatally interact with normal substances.. this occurred and after I almost died I disposed of all the drugs and sat back and waited.
The withdrawal symptoms (three weeks later)required emergency call out of a different GP.
After listening to me he said stated something was not quite right.he weaned me off the drugs slowly(over 18 months) and then sent me to endocrine consultant... this now 5yrs later!! (1991)It was found my pituitary glands has stopped working many years earlier and subsequently my hormone levels were that of a 90yr old man,at the time I was 42yrs of age. and my life had come to standstill the things I loved reading, fishing, socializing and sex Had left me... this was explained that all the drugs used were brain receptor blockers and would require years if ever to work again properly.
Endocrine immediately(1992) began HRT via Sustanon (testosterone)after the first injection the effect was remarkable and within a week most of the past 5yrs ceased to exist, except for my ability to concentrate to finish a book,my ability to find any interest in fishing and although some improvement in my sex life not a great deal!
I have the treatment every two weeks and have now contracted polycythemia (too many red blood cells) a common side affect of the treatment.
My sysmptom now is that although I have a wonderful wife,a good GP ,obtaining a useful erection is becoming more and more difficult.Yes viagra works,BUT and it's a big BUT...
After what I have been put through and my my now discovered and treated problems is there anything else that I should be asking my GP to check to assist with my sex life,as apparently the Pituitary gland has a major role in this area.
Hope this has all made sense, and someone can advise ,and my wife would be grateful... I am seeing my GP next week for a full discussion.
