    Last name prob.
    OK I have a prob. I'm going to have my baby next month and I want to no if I can give her any last name even if it has nothing to do with me

    Yeah you can give your baby a different last name just like you can change your first name if you ever felt the need to.
    But what would that accomplish?
    Wouldn't she want to have the same last name as yours?
    lol.. this is kind of the same response as the one above.. ^.^

    Legally I believe you can, but why would you want to do that? Why do you not want to pass on that part of your family's legacy?

    Thanks well the I want her to have the fathers last name but the father is not puting his name on the birth certificate yet so I was wondering if I should wait till he puts his name on the certificate or give her the name now so I don't have to change it later .

    Consider the possible problems down the road. If its an issue of making him part of the baby's life, his refusal to put the name on the birth certificate could indicate a problem. Giving the baby his name could cause problems rather than make things easier on you. My mom did something similar, and believe me, I wish I never had my dad's last name.
