A warrant or a subpoena or summons?
I don't understand what a civil warrant is. It appears to be a contradiction in terms.
(I own a process service company.)

I agree with JudyKT.
FYA,
A warrant normally can be one of two things, both involved in criminal matters:
a arrest warrant
a search warrant A summons is issued in a civil case and when served upon a defendant forces that defendant to answer or defend, upon pain of being defaulted.
A subpoena also can be one of two things:
an order to appear in court; or
an order to appear at a deposition. A subpoena duces tecum is a subpoena which requires the person being served to bring described documents with him.
To answer the question, it might be helpful if the OP were to clarify which document we are talking about. But the answer is problably no with the exception of a criminal warrant.

No, you don't have to open the door. The server (depending on your State) will either nail and mail, come back again, hand it to a Sheriff to serve.
It's not a warrant unless you committed fraud - it's a summons (most likely).

I understand some areas call them warrant for some silly reason, but they are really a summons.
And agreed, depending on the area, they merely nail it to the door, here we could slide it under the door.
Or if you work, they make a scene taking it to your work place
( I used to love to do that if they would not answer the door. And I would be sure to say it loud what they service was.
Or they mail it to you. Or they publish it in the newspaper as public service and if you don't see it, they do it with out you.
You not accepting it, will not stop the court case, so best, accept and show up in court

What good do you think dodging the summons will do? If you refuse service, they will just get a default judgment.
