Illinois grants for senior citizen home repairs
My neighbor is about 77 years old. Thehome he lives in is in much needed repairs. Is there something that could be done to help this elderly man repair the siding and his porch? Is there some type of available funding that hemayapply for in order to get funds to help?

    Thanks

First, any chance of a lot of the neighbors just getting together and doing it ?

What about their or your local church group ?

Most grants go to local non profits, who normally have 100 applications for any one ability to help. But you can go though and check with local real estate brokers, also check with some of the larger contractors to see if they know of problems.

Check with your local city counsel ( or alderman), check with city hall or city mangers office.

Also if they were veterans check with the American legion or the VFW.

    Hi, neighbor!

You're located between myself and Chicago.

You might want to give the following agency a try.

    Project NOW

If they can't help, it's likely that they will know of someone who can.

    Here's another one to try.

Habitat for Humanity of Illinois - Home

Also, some churches will hire youth for the Summer months that they will supervise to do work on properties for people in need.

The sooner any agency is contacted though, the better. There will be waiting lists...

    Thanks!
