For mine I vacuumed the filter-side of the coil. Seems like it would be the dirtiest.
-
Hard to believe a repair man wouldn't check for a clogged drain. Is the evap coil freezing and dripping water?
-
Let the ice melt, then clean the coil by using a brush attachment on a vacuum. If it freezes again after that, call a tech.
-
Is the outside unit running properly? Is the fan out there working?
-
Is air actually coming out of the vents? If the evaporator coil freezes (low on refrigerant), it blocks air to the vents even though everything is running. And the ice will melt and create a puddle.
-
The bad fan motor sent amps back to the capacitor and ruined it, so the compressor couldn't work either.
-
And make sure no vacuum hoses or sensors are disconnected after the starter replacement work. Wondering if someone left something loose.
-
Yeah, that was an option, but I didn't want to hassle trying to figure out where I could mount another cap. For $12 I just bought a new dual-run cap.

My fan motor was bad. Yours might be, too. Try to pinpoint the buzzing. If it's coming from the fan motor, that confirms it. I replaced mine today.
-
It was the motor. When purchasing, though, I had a problem. My existing motor was 1/3hp and 5/370. The only 5/370 motors were 1/4hp. So I ended up getting a 7.5/370 1/3hp motor, but also had to...

Is there humming or buzzing coming from the fan motor? If so, the motor is probably dead. I just had to replace mine today.

I've got the same problem. I replaced my capacitor yesterday, and the unit kicked-on for a few minutes, but then stopped again with no fan and the buzzing - sounds like it is from the fan motor, and...
-
I forgot to mention that the fan seizes and is hard to turn by hand when the power is on and buzzing is occurring. When the power is off the fan will spin freely.
-
I noticed my outside unit buzzing the other day, and the fan was not running. The unit is about 7 years old. I changed the capacitor yesterday, and the unit worked for about 5-10 minutes, but then...
