I'm in the UK, been asked if the opportunity came up would I be willing to work abroad. Obviously I answered yes, I haven't been given a location as of yet just that it's mainland europe, so here's...

Withdrawal prices I mean are. When you take a payment the money goes into your paypal account, you then have to transfer it to your bank account, so transfer costs would be a better term to use. I've...

The business in question is owned by me and I'm the only employer up to now.
I've got a website but its not set up yet and won't be for a week or 2 but I've already started emailing clients.

Cheers, I've got paypal just heard the withdrawel prices were a bit steep.
-
After setting up an online business, you obviously need a way of accepting payments. I've looked into direct debits and for a small business which is just starting, the costs are a bit expensive, as...

Before I started the diet I was losing weight just kickboxing, after a while training I had a fight and needed a diet to get down to a fighting weight and that's what I went on. Its also only one...
-
I agree there's a difference between hunger and thirst, that doesn't take away the fact that dehydration (not thirst) can make you feel hungry. As can a lot of things, boredum used to make me feel...

The diet you're on would more than likely keep your weight on. I had the same problem, first thing you should do is take up a proper sport. Don't be embarressed about going to classes, other people...

Its not kidnap if they're his kids, he had permission to have them and no court order is in place. He also informed you he was going to take them to his parents, not his fault you didn't get the...

Here's the original question.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/fiddler2k6/Question.jpg?t=1276263205
Thanks to you both, I'm having another look the ebaines' explanation to see what I get.

No information, we got given the question then the diagram I posted first. It might be clearer with the full question but there wasn't anything else.
-
I was surprised how easy it was - if its what they want - as well. The question sheet is at work, I'll post it in the morning, though it isn't much different from what I posted originally. I think...

I have a question which asks to replace a force and a couple moment with ones of equivalent force and couple moment, I'll attach the original and I have also done one which I think is correct. The...

I'm on a construction site just about to sdet out a pre-cast concrete building - with regards to surveying type of setting out.
Using whatever equipment e.g. theodoloite, total...

Need help with the setting out of a site.
Just the procedures of how to set out a precast concrete building, or a website with help will do.
I've searched everywhere - Google, bing etc - and...

Thanks this is what I was looking for, thanks for the answer... although it seems I was wrong, tsk

I understand the mathematics of the question, I have from the start. But as it is alcohol does this mean it is the same strength, i.e. would they both have the same effect on the same person if both...
-
That's why I'm asking, my mate says it's the same, I don't think it is.
-
Is having a pint glass of 100% alcohol mixed at a 40:60 ratio of alcohol:mixer the same as having a pint glass of 40% alcohol
-
Thanks, well from that I have 4.11kN for R. I'll see what the rest of the class got for their results and compare.
-
Right, so they are correct,
For R:
C is the same for both sides as its equal.
A I got 0.55kN
B is what I am stuck with.
-
Okay, with the methods you gave, I came to the forces:
A: 1.65
B: 0.56
C: 3.00
Total = 5.21kN
(This is at L)
Does this look right?
-
Last example I've got here:
"Find Reactions at L and R where Forces A= 2.2kN, B=1.3kN, C=6kN"
I've attached the diagram given.
Also,
The FBD I've drawn is a trapezium, is this correct?
-
Put her in an old peoples home.
-
Ah I get you now, so the diagram should look like one of these? Does it matter where the verticle pointing arrown is placed? There are two examples attached.
-
The second was just a guess, assuming forces would be here (its also not to scale so the forces aren't represented by arrow length in the example).
I'm still struggling to get my head around how...
-
Calculating this depends on a very large number of factors. Ranging from the make of the brakes to the type of road that you are driving on. Even then formulas usually only give an estimated speed as...
-
Ok there's 2 diagrams I've added, the first is an edit of the original with different directions for the forces at A.
The second has added forces, would these be here and be equal to B?
So where...

Example question given -
"Find Reactions at A. Draw a free body diagram and the positions of all forces, check for equlibrium conditions."
I've attached the diagram given, and a diagram with the...
-
This is what I got, I just didn't think the answer could be as simple as this lol.
Thanks for the help.
-
Is this not just:
3 1/2*2 1/3 = 3.5 x 2.3(r)
If so, the answer can be easily found using the equation above.
-
"Find reactions at A and B. Draw a FBD and the positions for all forces, check for equilibrium."
For this I have got to the conclusion of A + B = 8kN (assuming the plank is in equilibrium). As the...

Excellent. Thanks for the help. Our tutor expects us to know all this without being taught, so the help is appreciated. The explanations he does give complicate something that is really quite simple...

Thought the same method may have been used, so here's one I prepared earlier lol:
Magnitude = 25.44
Angle = 73.89
If this is correct, the only place I am unsure about is the direction of the...

Another question regarding magnitude, an extra force is added this time.
"For the set of forces shown in the diagram, what isd the magnitude of the resultant force and at what angle does it act?"...

Nice one, Cheers for the help.
I have other examples I will be needing help on, feel free to help when I post them :)

Ok, I've now got a proper calculator and its looking better.
for F1x I got = 15.15 (2dp)
for F1y I got = 17.72 (2dp)
for F2x I got = -5.29 (2dp)
for F2y I got = 7.28 (2dp)
Fx total = 9.86...

Thanks again for the help, I'll give more feedback tomorrow, I'm using Google calculator to get the answers as my scientific calculator is at home (obviously a bad decision lol).

Ok,
for F1x I got = -4.97
for F1y I got = 16.26
for F2x I got = 7.46
for F2y I got = -5.03
Fx total = 2.49
Fy total = 11.26

I have a question which requires finding the magnitude and direction of a resultant force (including angles as to be able to accurately draw on paper). The question is written as follows:
