What is the average amount of money someone could make selling an new or used car?

Mortgage applications that pass thru my business show car sales person earn about $30K. That said, the average real estate agent makes about the same amount. The issue is that there are alot of car sales people and the job is easy to get (sell your friends and family) and when your productivity drops they cut you loose.

The good sales people in good supportive dealerships can earn into the 6 digit range - just like the good real estate agents regularly make well over $100,000.
