Making the transition from one career to another provides more challenges than simply seeking development/promotional opportunities within your current career, but thousands of people do it every year!
At the risk of grossly oversimplifying, what are the broad competencies you have developed that have relevance to a career in audit/finance? For example, ability to analyse data (whether it is trends in student achievement or corporate growth), ability to research and problem solve, communication and conflict management etc etc etc.
Next thing to consider is how to present your transferrable skills in audit/finance "friendly speak". Having an education background myself, it is my experience that not many people are tuned in to the kind of language that is part of the education culture. So be careful how you describe your competencies both in your application and at interview.
Your Resume may use different headings, but essentially the process is similar for most professions. You would probably avoid headings such as "Curriculum Initiatives" or "Curriculum Specialisations" and think more about what makes this expertise of value in the context of audit/finance, and provide a title accordingly (eg: " project initiatives"??).
I mentioned the Resume book and Resume/CV templates from
http://www.progressenterprise.com in a previous post, but there are 12 of them - really easy to use and visually and conceptually sophisticated in design. I think they are still priced at about $10.00 (AUD) and probably worth a whole lot more. I've used them myself.
Hope this is of help.
