Dear God

I don't think this goes in the humor section but wasn't sure where to put it that it would get read. I think it is something powerfully said. Tell me what you think. Down in Tennessee I saw a shirt that said the following:

Dear God,

Why do you allow so much violence in our schools?

Sincerely,
Concerned Student.

Dear concerned student,

I am not allowed in you schools.

Sincerely,
God

You have the homes and the schools you deserve because you have abdicated and left the education of your children to "professionals". What is wrong with teaching children about all aspects of life including God and religion? No, these "professionals" would rather fill their minds with rubbish. What are children taught? Are they taught the truth or are they taught yesterday's theory because the teachers and the textbooks haven't caught up yet. What happens when the children learn their knowledge is crap. When asked why did you teach that? the teacher replied "we had to teach you something". It is better to teach children truth that is unchanging such as the Ten Commandments and the life of Christ than is is to teach them unsupported theories and pseudo knowledge.

There's nothing wrong with teaching children about God and religion if that is what you believe in. The thing is, not all people believe in God or religion, so what of their rights?

Religion is better left at home and at church, not in the schools.

I don't find math, science and English to be rubbish. Those are things that my children will need in order to do well in this world. If I want them to know about God then I'll teach them about God.

The truth? You think that the bible and God are the truth, that's your belief and your choice, not mine. I have no desire for my childrens minds to be filled with so called Christian "truth", that's better left in the right environment and the homes of people that actually want to instill Christian "truth" in their children.

If my children have questions about religion then there are other places to get that information. They're in school to learn, not to pray.

Because I don't need any god or religion in my life nor my kids lives.

My kids are getting a great education so far. Do they teach lies in Australia? I would speak up if that were the case.

My choice was easy, I would not allow my child to go to public school, so we chose to home school. The state of most public schools in the US are very poor.

My kids go to a public school and still say the Lord's Prayer in the morning as well as singing the Canadian anthem.

In the Catholic schools religion is taught, obviously.

I think that if a parent wants their child to learn about religion in school, then they should go to a catholic school. There's also lutheran schools. There's one not even a half a mile up the road from where I live, and there is a church added to it. People go there for school, and once a day they go to the church part of it. That's not ideal for some, but at least people have that option.

Edit: There is a good reason for why they don't teach religion in school. Because not all people believe the same things. That's why they have places of worship to go to. This way, everyone has a "place" to go to when they want to feel close to God, if they feel they need a building fo that, and there is a place for their children to get an un-biased education in the topic of religion. I say un-biased because they are not preaching science, they are just teaching it. Also, I might add that there are many people who beileve in both. Thye have their faith, and believe that God worked his miracle of life through science, so they choose to understand it.

To the point, if religion were taught in schools, there would be many people that would feel discriminated against or left out. They might also feel that they are going against their beliefs by attending. This way, everyone can feel like they have a fair chance at an education without feeling singled out, or pushed out because they believe something that, possibly, the majority does not.

Also, where ai went to school at least, in my history class, and my Literature class, we looked at and interpreted many kinds of religions for historic value as well as for understanding the literature. We were taught to understand the religions, but we were not told to believe them.

I think I had a pretty good education, we learnt evolution, the fact that we actually learnt it and understood it makes me believe that a lot more than I believe in an invisible entity.
