Dear God

I don't think this goes in the humor section but wasn't sure where to put it that it would get read. I think it is something powerfully said. Tell me what you think. Down in Tennessee I saw a shirt that said the following:

Dear God,

Why do you allow so much violence in our schools?

Sincerely,
Concerned Student.

Dear concerned student,

I am not allowed in you schools.

Sincerely,
God

From the title I thought it was going to be a joke I heard a few years back.. it goes something like this (lol to lighten the mood )

hem, hem.... joke time.....

A father was walking by his sons bedroom late one evening, as he walked passed the door he could hear his young son talking really really loudly:

"DEAR GOD: CAN I PLEASE; PLEASE; PLEASE; PLEEEASE GET A NEW BIKE FOR MY BIRTHDAY???"

The father went into the room an told the son:

" Son, you know you don't have to talk so loudly when you prey to God, you can say it quietly, or whisper, or even just think the words and he'll hear you."

His son turns around and says:

"Aaaach, Dad, I know that. But If I say it quietly or whisper, then grandpa won't be able to hear me all the way upstairs."

I kinda think this is charming, lol if not funny

I just saw that shirt at a christian store a few days ago.
It touched my heart. I wanted to buy it so bad but they didnt have my size. I am a teenager in high school and i experience the lack of God in my school every single day.

Violence and other bad behavior are rampant because this generation of parents don't know how to make rules and say no to their brats. I would have been grounded for life if I had acted the way most kids do now.

You misunderstood me. How about this? -- If the parents teach morals at home, those morals will go with the child to school.

Those brats were created. There wouldn't BE brats if the parents did their job!

earl237 agrees: People should have to pass tests and get a licence to become parents.

Hello Katie, and you too Adam:

This post, and yours when you spoke about the SCHOOLS not allowing God or religion in school, prompted me to write...

Religion and prayer both, ARE absolutely allowed in school today. You may pray as much as your heart desires while you're in school. No law stops you. There's just isn't any ORGANIZED prayer BY the school. But, there's prayer. You've seen, of course, high school football players praying together. But, that's THEM doing it, and NOT the school/government, and it's perfectly legal.

In any case, the SCHOOLS had nothing to do with any of this. The CONSTITUTION did. It's pretty clear in the First Amendment that the government can't "establish" a religion... So, if the school/government allowed prayer in school, it would be tantamount to the school/government establishing THAT prayers' religion... So, a school would have to let ALL the religions organize prayer in school. Of course, there wouldn't be any time left to learn Math, if we did that... So, the government keeps ALL organized prayer out of school.

Why is this in Humor, it should be in religious discussions.

This may be a more important subject than appears at first.

What is happening is that we are living in a state of spiritual anarchy. Everyone doing what he/she wants to.

When the only restraint against violence is the fear of getting caught, there are always those who think they will not get caught, so they do whatever they please.

Christian values demand non-violence at the personal level, at least.

We now have "churches" or "clubs" that will allow whatever you want. If you don't like what you hear in one place, just go down the street a few blocks.

Does that mean that all of them are right?

Of course not. It is tha anarchy that I mentioned above.
