Should I dump him, or not??

Asked Jun 24, 2012, 09:44 AM — 2 Answers
I have been in a relationship with a guy for almost 3 years. Our relationship is kind of complicated right now because of his maturity level still the same as being childish and all. I am deeply expecting that our relation level should have at least some progress in taking it to next level like marriage. I’m 32 years old and he's 24. I felt like he's not being serious about our relationship and being irresponsible since he's currently still being jobless for almost a year and still preferred playing his online game most of the time (mostly what made me upset).
I texted him that if we can be just friends for the time being when he went to Australia few days ago. His responses was like he is so ready to let me go after he assumed me seeing another guy, even wishing me best of luck about it before I could really explain the reason why. I got pissed and I ended up giving up not to explain those reasons and what I really feel about. I’m so disappointed in him and ignored his phone calls ever since and until now. I didn’t really mean to break up with him literally but just that I want to stop seeing or dating him for the time being so he would realize something over and about. He kept saying sorry for what he said to me over text messages but I can only ignore them. I am not sure how long should I wait for him to be matured since I'm worried a bit about my age that tells me I ain't getting any younger yah know.

You answered your own question - yes.

Early 20s can be mature or they can be stuck in the teens. He's not working (don't know who supports him, hope it isn't you), he's playing computer games, and you need more - maybe your clock is ticking. It isn't about interest so much as just time and age differences. Let him go. There's nothing wrong with dating and by the time it starts to get serious, you spell out what your future looks like to you.

If you are looking for a mature responsible man to spend your life with, he ain't it. I am sure if you keep ignoring him and get on with your life, you will see that.

Maybe this is the jolt he needs to grow up and be responsible, and get a job. Don't go back.
