Be very concerned about the age difference. If you care about him, you don't want him to go to jail. I don't know anything about the laws where you live, but some people do get married at age 16 in some states with parental permission.

You know your mother better than anyone on here. I'd suggest waiting 2 years and just being friends.

I think that is a dangerous thing. He would not be smart to do so. What if you get mad at him in a year, or if you get caught? Big trouble! You also would not be smart to do it either, if you are at all concerned about possible consequences for him.

He could always ask a lawyer about the state laws on the matter. He is the one who would be most severely punished if he breaks the laws. He should make sure that anything he tells the lawyer is confidential including any information about any contact he has alread had if that is the case... sometimes that information is required to be turned over to the authorities.

I'd be afraid that you're opening yourselves up to a lot of problems.

You should be concerned about the age difference if you don't want him to go to jail.

Most likelyeither he wants to use you, isn't smart at all, or is immature because a 16 year old and a 22 year old are not on the same level physically, emotionally, or mentally.

Find someone else, honey.

I'm sorry, but I laughed when I read that. No offense but I really don't think you can love a guy without even spending the type of personal one on one time you do when you are partners. I'm pretty sure what you're feeling is your hormones honey.

You say you're mother would kill him if she found out. Well since I know you're probably not literal in the sense of "kill" then good for her! If I was your father (and was still in the family picture) he wouldn't be anywhere near you. But the way if you do care about him do you really want all the problems it will cause between your mother, who gave birth to you, feed you, raised you to some 22 year old ________. Possibly problems between your brother and him. Problems between you and your mother, you and your brother and finally the police and this 22 year old.

I think he's interested in you for the wrong reasons. And I also think (personally) that you have not fully understood the true definition of the word "love" (but that's imo). Sorry but I say forget about it.

Homegirl 50 agrees: I agree. If I were her mom, he and I would have a long chat.

well its good that you are getting over your past relationship and you are moving on but the age difference is the only situation here. The only reason your mom will be mad is because of the age. Its the LAW throughout the united states. he cannot touch you at all, if he does he can get in really big trouble, even if you give him your concent. its ok to have these feelings, and its nice to know that he likes you back, but you need to go over it with him so he knows the consequences.

I'm Canadian and laws are different here but others are saying that "you are illegal" for him... so forget it. Unless you want to get him in trouble.
