im too much of a passive bf even when im hurting

Asked Jun 4, 2007, 02:32 PM — 2 Answers
When it comes to relationships I'm too passive meaninging that I kind of let things slip when I'm hurt by them or having a dislike/hate for them.I've always had trouble telling gfs that I don't like something or things they do and most of the time I get really bothered by small things they do because I have trouble letting them know.I know it mite seem as simple as getting some balls but its not.anyhelp or advive would be great.

I'm afraid to tell you but you are a time bomb. Maybe, the concepts of assertiveness might be helpful to you.

Assertiveness is the ability to express yourself and your rights without violating the rights of others. It is appropriately direct, open, and honest communication which is self-enhancing and expressive. Acting assertively will allow you to feel self-confident and will generally gain you the respect of your peers and friends. It can increase your chances for honest relationships, and help you to feel better about yourself and your self-control in everyday situations. This, in turn, will improve your decision-making ability and possibly your chances of getting what you really want from life.

Best wishes

Ok listen, I won't say what you do is wrong because that's your personality trait, some people just don't feel comfortable demonstrating what they are looking for. However I must add that this passive behaviour may ring the wrong bell for people who want to know you but get discouraged because they do not what you're looking for...they won't know unless you tell them. And consequently, miscommunication leads to misunderstandings and loss of passion and essence of relationships/friendships. You must try to be assertive but in a subtle way that it doesn't offend the other. Telling people what you want makes things lot easier for other people who like you and if they like you they will certainly respect what you have to say. So buddy,go ahead and speak your mind always...if you sit back and sulk, it will make matters worse for you.
